The DeltaMath class code

Every DeltaMath class has an 8-character alphanumeric code. Teachers copy it from one screen; students type it once to join. This page covers both sides and the handful of reasons a code is rejected.

For teachers: where the code is

  1. Open Tools → Manage Students and Classes

From the teacher dashboard, the Tools menu is in the top bar. Depending on your settings the page may say Periods or Sections instead of Classes.

  2. Create the class if it does not exist

Click Add New Class, type a name students will recognize (for example “Algebra 1 – Period 3”), and click Confirm Add.

  3. Read the code next to the class name

Each row shows the class name, the number of students, and the 8-character class code. The code is generated automatically and cannot be customized.

  4. Share the code or the registration link

Click the link icon beside the class to copy a registration URL with the code already embedded. Paste it into Google Classroom, Canvas, an email, or your syllabus. Or write the code on the board; students can type it manually.

For students: where to enter it

  1. Go to deltamath.com/students and click Register. (If you opened the teacher's link, the code is already filled in.)
  2. Type the 8-character code and press Continue.
  3. Fill in your name and pick email/password or Google. Full steps are on the student sign-up page.
  4. Already have an account? Click Log In instead. After signing in, the class you were registering for is added to your existing account.

Why a class code is rejected

SymptomLikely causeWhat to do
“Invalid class code”Typo: 0 vs O, 1 vs l vs I, 5 vs SRetype those characters, or ask for the registration link

Code accepted, but wrong class appearsTeacher shared a code from a different periodTell the teacher; they can move you between classes from Manage Students and Classes
“Account already exists”You registered beforeLog in; the new class is added to that account

Moving students between classes

Teachers can move a student who joined the wrong period without the student doing anything: open Manage Students and Classes, click Edit next to the student, and change the class. Students cannot remove themselves from a class, so a wrong join is always fixed on the teacher side.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a DeltaMath class code?
Eight characters, a mix of letters and numbers. Each class a teacher creates gets its own code.
Where do students enter the DeltaMath class code?
At deltamath.com/students, click Register and the first field asks for the code. Students who already have an account log in first, then use the same Register flow or the teacher's link to add the class.
Can I find a class code without my teacher?
No. Codes are private to each teacher's class and are not searchable. Classmates who registered already can share the code, or the teacher can resend the registration link.
Do class codes expire?
A code stays valid as long as the class exists in the teacher's account. Teachers often archive classes at the end of the year, at which point the old code stops working.
Why does DeltaMath say my class code is invalid?
Usually a typo between 0/O or 1/l/I, a code from an archived class, or a code copied with a trailing space. Retype it carefully or ask the teacher for the registration link, which fills the code in automatically.
Do Clever or ClassLink schools use class codes?
No. With those integrations classes and rosters sync from the district system, so teachers never share a code and students launch DeltaMath from the portal.
