DeltaMath Algebra 2 skills
Algebra 2 on DeltaMath extends the Algebra 1 skills with complex numbers, higher-degree polynomials, radical and rational expressions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and an introduction to sequences and statistics.
Unit 1
Quadratics revisited
Complete the square and the quadratic formula both produce exact answers; complex solutions appear when the discriminant is negative.

Unit 2
Complex numbers
i² = −1. Simplify radicals of negatives to bi form and rationalize denominators with the conjugate.
- Simplifying Radicals of Negative NumbersUse Show Example in DeltaMath
- Operations with Complex NumbersUse Show Example in DeltaMath
- Powers of iUse Show Example in DeltaMath
Unit 3
Polynomials
Synthetic division and the remainder theorem speed up factoring higher-degree polynomials.

Unit 4
Radicals and rational exponents
Pull out the largest perfect power; convert between radical and exponent form before simplifying.

Unit 5
Exponential and logarithmic functions
Rewrite every log as an exponent question. log without a base is base 10; ln is base e.

Unit 6
Rational expressions and functions
Factor everything first. State excluded values from the original denominators, not the simplified one.

Unit 7
Sequences, series, and statistics
Know which formula is arithmetic and which is geometric. For statistics, DeltaMath follows TI-84 conventions for quartiles.

Algebra 2 on DeltaMath: questions
- Which Algebra 2 DeltaMath skills do students search for most?
- The quadratic formula and complex-number skills lead, followed by simplifying radicals, evaluating logarithms, and rational expressions. Those are the units where formatting (exact radicals, a+bi form) causes the most false wrongs.
- Does DeltaMath accept decimal answers in Algebra 2?
- Only when a problem explicitly asks you to round. Exact form is the default: 3+sqrt(7), -2+3i, 3/2. The math keyboard's √ and i keys enter these correctly.
- Where is the statistics calculator DeltaMath uses?
- DeltaMath has a built-in Stats Calculator at deltamath.com/app/calculator/stats.html with 1-Var Stats, regression, normalpdf, normalcdf, and invNorm. The statistics calculator on this site gives the same 1-Var Stats output without logging in.
